REVIEW: su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick

I've only been using this for a week and I'M IN LOVE!! This totally met all my expectations and more and is now officially on my HG list. Made by LG Household & Healthcare, LTD, su:m37 is considered one of the more higher-end skincare brands in Korea.

The cleanser is basically bar soap contained in a beautiful pale peach-pink stick tube where you twist the knob at the bottom to get more of the product. It's kind of like a child's arts and crafts glue stick from way back.

There are actual rose petals contained in the soap and I was actually surprised at the number of petals.  What I liked about it the most upon opening was the scent of fermented damask rose.

To use, wet your skin first with water and rub the cleansing stick directly onto the skin all over your face.  Work up a foamy lather with your hands and then rinse off.   Unfortunately, there are a couple problems with this method of use: 1) placing the stick directly onto my skin means there's dirt and bacteria transfer onto the soap, and 2) the cleansing stick gets all soapy and drippy, so I often have to wipe the body of the tube down after using it.

The cleanser is formulated with 90% natural ingredients and contains a fair amount of fermented damask rose extract.  It has a pH balance of 5, which is acidic enough (but not enough to irritate) to provide mild, surface exfoliation of your dead skin cells without stripping your skin of its natural oil levels.  This is actually what made me really fall in love with this product. I can really notice that my skin is exfoliated gently right after cleansing.  My skin is smoother and my pores have been cleared of dead skin cells and any left over make up residue that my cleansing balm or make up remover didn't get to.

Other bonuses to the cleansing stick's formulation include hypoallergenic ingredients and plenty of anti-oxidants! However, according to COSDNA, there are some potential acne triggers and irritants, but I have not noticed such effects on my skin and I have combination and blemish prone skin.  However, extremely sensitive skin types may experience some discomfort from the essential oils used as fragrance (e.g. lime/lemon peel oils).

I'm definitely going to keep this as a staple in my skincare routine.  It works really well at prepping my skin for many of my pH dependent products that follow and, most importantly, cleanses my skin without drying or irritation!
